What will I do in this role with Judson?

As a Dining Services Manager, supporting the Judson mission will include the following responsibilities:

  • Manage assigned staff, including training, scheduling and monitoring and evaluating employee performance. Follow progressive disciplinary policy and develop performance improvement plans for staff, as necessary. Complete all necessary paperwork for new employees.
  • Manage all internal and external programs and events
  • Manage and train dining services staff and other assigned personnel
  • Work closely with the Director of Dining Services and property VP on goal setting, customer service initiatives and budgeting
  • May be asked to open and close the entire Dining Services operation
  • Track dining staff's attendance in accordance with the company attendance policy. Ensuring the Dining Room servers complete all opening and closing duties per shift prior to the end of their shift.
  • Coordinate with the Director and Chef on catering events and their dynamics as needed for scheduling and guests satisfaction. Assist with all service aspects of assigned banquet functions and catering events, including scheduling and managing staff.
  • Work in concert with the rest of the Management team in operating the department, including daily and effective communications. Manage department as needed in the absence of the Director. Maintain knowledge of and manage within union contract, company and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Work flexible days/hours as needed to manage catering events and Dining Room operations, including opening and/or closing department as required.
  • Perform departmental administrative tasks related to the preparing, typing and distributing menus on a timely basis. Ensure comment cards are placed on each dining table and are tallied weekly and reported to Director for follow up.
  • Maintain high visibility in all dining areas and resolve customer and staff issues.
  • Related duties as assigned

What do I need for this role with Judson?

  • 3-5 years management experience in senior living or full service dining room and/or banquet center.
  • Read, Write and follow complex tasks.
  • Must be organized and detail oriented, able to handle multiple tasks concurrently.
  • Must have effective communication skills, be courteous and considerate of others.
  • Must be able to work flexible days/times and maintain a record of acceptable attendance and punctuality.
  • Able to work well under pressure and maintain composure under stressful conditions.
  • Computer skills in Excel, Word, Publisher and Financial software. Knowledge in POS systems (Fullcount).
  • Possess ServSafe Certification or be willing to receive within 90 days of hire.
  • Certified Food Protection Manager Certification highly preferred.
